Frequently asked questions

Is this text to speech tool really free?

Yes. No account, no subscription, no audio watermark. Each generation takes up to 2,000 characters; for longer texts, generate in several parts.

Can I use the audio in a video or a commercial project?

Yes. Every voice offered comes from a model whose license allows commercial use; voices under non-commercial licenses were left out. License details are on the site's Licenses page.

Is my text stored?

No. The text is sent to our server only to produce the audio, then deleted immediately. It isn't saved or logged, and the audio file only exists in your browser.

Why are some voices slower?

The most expressive voices need more computing. The estimated time is shown next to each voice; voices marked “fast” answer in one or two seconds.

What if the voice server doesn't respond?

The page switches to the voice built into your browser: you can listen to your text, but not download it. Try again a bit later to get an MP3 or WAV file.
