How to denoise a video

Adjust the strength (Look tab for the image, Sound tab for the audio), trim or crop if needed.

Frequently asked questions
How do I remove grain from a video?
Drop the video: image noise reduction is set to 50% (Look tab). At export, each frame is smoothed using its neighbours (FFmpeg's hqdn3d filter), which removes grain without blurring too much. Raise it for a very dark video, lower it if details soften.
Is the sound denoised too?
Yes, audio noise reduction is set to 50% (Sound tab): it reduces hiss and steady background noise. For a voice badly damaged by noise, the AI “Enhance voice” tool does better.
Why can't I see the difference in the preview?
Image noise reduction is computed at export, not during playback: watch the exported video to judge the result.
Is it comparable to AI denoising?
No: it's a classic filter, fast and download-free, effective on fine grain. AI denoisers in paid software recover more detail on very noisy footage.
