How to compare two PDFs

  1. Drop the original version, then the new version (swap them if needed).

  2. Choose to compare the text (word by word) or the look (pixel by pixel), then click “Compare”.

  3. Go through the highlighted changes and download the report if you want to keep it.

Frequently asked questions

How do I see the differences between two PDFs?

Drop both versions, keep “The text” selected and click “Compare”: added words are highlighted in green, deleted words struck through in red, with their page. Identical text is folded so you go straight to the changes.

What if my PDF is scanned?

A scanned PDF only holds images: there's no text to compare. Choose “The look”: each page is compared pixel by pixel and changed areas are painted red. You can also run the document through the OCR tool before comparing the text.

Is formatting compared?

In text mode, only words count (bold, colour or font don't show). In visual mode, any visible change counts: text, images, layout, colours.

Is there a page limit?

Text mode compares the whole document. Visual mode compares the first 60 pages, so a phone's memory doesn't fill up.

Are my PDFs uploaded to a server?

No. Reading and comparing happen in your browser: neither file leaves your device.
