Frequently asked questions

How do I remove a video background without a green screen?

Drop the video: a segmentation model (MediaPipe, by Google, open source) finds the person in each frame and the background is replaced with your choice. The mask is smoothed from frame to frame to avoid flicker. Check the preview, then create the video.

Which videos work best?

One or two people close to the camera, facing it: interview, presentation, tutorial, social media video. In our tests, an interview was cut out cleanly from start to finish; on a wide shot of a walking group, however, several distant people were missed and a logo was taken for a person. For those shots, paid tools (CapCut Pro, Runway) do much better.

Can I get a transparent background?

Choose “Green screen”: it's the standard format for compositing. In your editor, the “chroma key” effect makes that green transparent and you place any background behind it.

How long does it take?

On a recent computer, about one to two times the video's length. On a phone it's slower: prefer short videos.

Is my video uploaded?

No. Cutting out and encoding happen in your browser: the video never leaves your device.
